Most people prefer to buy directly from Gucci so they can ensure authenticity, but there are so many authorized sellers of Gucci that I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from luxury designer website like Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Net-A-Porter, Luisaviaroma, MyTheresa and SSENSE as well. If the belt of your choice is sold out everywhere, I would opt to go on the wait list or pre-order via Gucci’s site first since they will probably get it in stock before any retailer does. I bought one of my belts from Gucci which took about 6 months to receive and I bought the other one from Net-A-Porter and received it within days. I have had even the best shoe cobblers who specialize in designer items, mess pieces up (although everything was still wearable). They should cut the leather around the belt buckle area and and size it appropriately to you but if you’re like me, I have a hard time trusting just anyone to handle designer pieces. You can also go with a larger size and have it altered by a shoe cobbler. I could have went with the 75 as well, but the extra length looked a bit strange around my hips (the belt kind of flapped to the side, if that makes sense). I opted for the 70 because it worked for belting dresses and as belt with high-waist denim – which is most of my denim.
The 75 worked great for low-rise denim, but I rarely wear low-rise denim. I also tried the 65 and 75 – which both fit, but the 65 only worked as a high-waist belt and the 75 didn’t have enough holes to wear as a high-waist belt. I’m normally a size 24 or 0 in bottoms (my measurements are 23″ waist and 32″ hips) and I went with a size 70 for both of my Gucci belts. I recommend going off of that. I went with the high-rise sizing guide in the right column – which was accurate. Gucci has a really great size guide here (next to wear you select your size – here). If you are planning on wearing it with high-rise denim, you should go with your normal size and if you are planning on wearing it around your hips with low-rise denim, then you’ll want to size up. If you are planning on wearing it as a true waist belt (to cinch your waist in a dress, for example), you should size down. Here’s the question everyone wants to know! In terms of sizing, you should start by taking a look through your closet and determining if you mostly wear high-rise or low-rise jeans and how you plan to wear the belt. I will definitely be wearing my belt throughout fall and winter. Yes, they seem to be everywhere, but I believe Gucci belts have become a designer classic piece that will remain timeless (much like the Chanel 2.55 bag, Burberry trench, Gucci loafers – I could go on and on, but I think you get my point). Now here I am today still talking about why I love the Gucci belt.
I have to admit when I went on the waiting list for a Gucci belt a couple of years ago, I thought there was no way it would still be in style when I received it six months later. Will Gucci Belts Still Be In Style For Fall?
In my opinion, a Gucci belt is totally worth the price tag. The Gucci leather is soft, but sturdy and the gold hardware buckle is secured really well so it doesn’t feel flimsy. I couldn’t believe how it paled in comparison to my Gucci belt. I won’t say which brand, but it’s one of my favorite handbag brands. I recently ordered a different luxury designer belt and I have to say I was pretty disappointed with the quality. At $470 a Gucci belt definitely isn’t cheap, but compared to other luxury belts, it’s fairly priced – especially for the quality.
